How to remove recycle bin from desktop in Windows 10
Chances are that most of you reading this guide are running Windows 10, so let’s tackle this task in Windows 10 first.
Step 1 – locate Recycle bin on your desktop
This first step is super easy and all you have to do is locate recycle bin on your desktop. That is of course if your desktop is clean 😉
Step 2 – right click on Recycle bin and click PIN TO START
I would call this step optional, I put this here because that’s how I have done it and it works for me.
To keep your recycle bin icon still at hand, you might want to pin it to the start menu.
To do this, click on Recycle bin with right mouse button, then select Pin to start to do that.
Step 3 – right click on desktop and select PERSONALISE
Now you will have to click on right mouse button (on free space on your desktop) so the desktop settings will appear. From the drop down menu select PERSONALISE to open personalisation settings.
Step 4 – select THEMES option
You just managed to open desktop personalisation settings window, so to get to the next step click on THEMES on the left hand side. See below picture for further reference
Step 5 – click on Desktop Icon Settings
In this next step you will have to look for settings option named Desktop Icon Settings, that you find on the right hand side. As shown on the picture below
Step 6 – find and uncheck Recycle bin option
Find Recycle bin from given options, notice there’s check next to it.
This check mark means, that recycle bin icon is selected to be shown on desktop. So to not show is, you will have to uncheck it and to save click on APPLY, then OK. How to remove recycle bin from desktop in Windows 8
In this part of our guide we will teach you how to remove recycle bin from your desktop in Windows 8. You can use this guide to remove recycle bin in Windows 8.1 as well.
Step 1 – click on Windows start button
In this first step all you will have to do is locate and click on Windows start button, that you will find in bottom left corner of your screen.
Step 2 – click on search bar icon
Now locate search bar icon, that you will find in the top right corner of your start menu. See picture to show where it’s located.
Step 3 – Type HIDE into search bar and click on SHOW OR HIDE COMMON ICONS from desktop
You just managed to locate and open Windows search bar and now just type HIDE in there. Then find SHOW OR HIDE COMMON ICONS FROM DESKTOP and click on it to open.

Step 4 – locate RECYCLE BIN option
From shown options find RECYCLE BIN, notice the check mark next to it, as a result of this recycle bin icon will be shown on desktop.
Step 5 – uncheck recycle bin option and save
The check mark means that recycle bin icon is selected to be shown on desktop, so to not show it uncheck it and click APPLY to save. Congratulations, you just removed recycle bin icon from your Windows 8 desktop.

Step 1 – right click desktop and click PERSONALISE
Click on empty portion of your deskto with right mouse button, then select PERSONALISE from provided options. Click on it to open desktop personalisation settings
Step 2 – click CHANGE DESKTOP ICONS
After desktop personalisation settings window opened, look for CHANGE DESKTOP ICONS option. You can find it in the top left corner, so click on it to proceed.
Step 3 – find RECYCLE BIN option
Find recycle bin option from provided options. Notice the check mark next to it, so this means that recycle bin icon is selected to be shown on Windows 7 desktop.
Step 4 – uncheck Recycle bin option and save
To hide recycle bin from being shown on desktop uncheck the check mark next to recycle bin option, then click APPLY to save. Well done, you removed recycle bin icon from your desktop.
