The whole uninstall process can be split into these 6 steps:
- Start command prompt as administrator
- Type command: Wmic
- Type command: Product get name

1. Start command prompt as administrator
Click on the Windows logo in bottom left of your Windows desktop and type CMD in the search field
RIGHT click the displayed Command Prompt program and choose Run as administrator
You will get window that looks like this, notice the word Administrator in the header of the program, it is important that it is there otherwise you are not logged in as administrator and you won’t be able to uninstall programs
2. Type command: Wmic
Next type command wmic followed by enter, afterwards your screen should look like this
3. Type command: Product get name
In order to get list of all the programs that are installed on your pc, you need to type command Product get name followed by enter
After this command you will see list of all programs installed, something like the below
4. Look up exact name of Avast program
We will use the name of the program in next step to uninstall it. Make sure to locate and note the exact name of your Avast program from the list of all installed software. In my case, because I have the free version, the exact name is Avast free antivirus
5. Type command: Product where name=”YOUR PROGRAM NAME” call uninstall
Now type the command with the EXACT name of Avast antivirus, as it is on your system, between the quotes (instead of YOUR PROGRAM NAME) and press enter. In my case it looks like this:
6. Confirm uninstall
You will be prompted to answer whether you really want to uninstall the Avast program, click Y and press enter.
Congratulations you just uninstalled Avast from your Windows.
