How to uninstall Eclipse on Windows 10 in 13 easy steps:

I realize 13 steps sound like a lot, therefore I split them into 4 tasks. Each task will account for a certain number of steps, but in total there are just 13 steps to follow. Hope this makes sense and will help you better understand the process.

Task 1 – Delete installation folder

Our first task is to locate and delete the folder where you installed Eclipse. I also include steps for finding the installation folder, in case you don’t remember where you installed it.

Step 1 – click Start button and ALL PROGRAMS

See, this one is super easy. All you do is go to the bottom left corner of your screen and click on the start button, then click on all programs.

Step 5 – click on user name in top bar

Finally, we now found the Eclipse installation folder, but unfortunately, you cannot delete a folder from inside it. We will have to go a few folders above this one. If you click on the user name under which it is installed, you can delete the whole folder. Check the below screen shot to better understand what I’m trying to explain.

Step 6 – right click Eclipse folder and select DELETE

Now that you are in the top-level folder, where you installed Eclipse, find the folder named Eclipse. Then click on it with right mouse button and select DELETE. Congratulations, you just finished task one of four.

Task 2 – delete start menu shortcut

In this second task all you have to do is delete the shortcut from start menu. We are nearly half way there, as you can see it’s not hard at all. So let’s keep going.

Step 7 – click start button, all programs and delete Eclipse folder

In order to keep this guide somewhat understandable I decided to put this whole task as one step, because we already found Eclipse folder before. Remember we started Task 1 by clicking on start button, then clicking on all programs. So let’s do that again, this time with different purpose. Locate the Eclipse folder, click on it with your right mouse button and select delete.

Congratulations, you just finished second task.

Task 3 – delete Desktop shortcut

Similarly as in Task 2 we will be deleting shortcut in this task, this time on Desktop.

Step 8 – go to Desktop and delete Eclipse shortcut

This one is pretty straight-forward. Go to your Desktop, where you have to locate Eclipse shortcut. You will then click on it with right mouse button and context menu will appear. Go ahead and select delete here.

Note: your desktop might not be as tidy as mine and you have bunch of stuff sitting there. If you have trouble finding Eclipse shortcut, believe me I was there, you could try organising your desktop by name. But this will mess up whatever organisation of icons on your desktop you migh have.

Task 4 – delete .p2 folder

In this last task we will look for and delete the .p2 folder from your computer. If you’re more advanced user and you know where to find the user file on your computer, you can just directly go there. .p2 folder is located there and you can directly delete it.

Otherwise you can follow our smaller steps to get there.

Step 9 – go to start button and click THIS PC

Click on start button, then look for and click on THIS PC icon.

You will be presented will all drives that are installed in or attached to your computer. We are looking for C drive, now click and open it.

Note: if you have more drives on your PC, look for mark C: in your drives names. As the name tag of your hard drive could be anything, but it will always have the marking C: D: etc.

Step 11 – click on USERS

Ok, now you see all folders that are on your C drive, these are usually in alphabetical order. Now just find and open USERS folder.

Step 12 – click on user name

In this step we just find and open folder named as your Windows user name.

Note: the name of the folder should be same to your Windows user name, but it can also be named ADMIN or USER (my case).

Step 13 – find and delete .p2 folder

Great you made it all the way, we are at our last step. And you guessed it, it is again an easy one. Find .p2 folder, then click on it with right mouse button and select DELETE. After this step, you have to restart your computer for installation to be fully finished.
